The Transcend Advocacy Group: 

Empowering and Supporting the Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Community

Oklahoma is home to Rainbow Youth Project’s Transcend Advocacy Group - an inspiring collective of transgender and gender nonconforming individuals (TGNC) who are united by a shared vision. Through targeted programs, policy advocacy, and community outreach, Transcend aims to create safer, more inclusive, and equitable environments for TGNC youth and adults to thrive.

The strength of the Transcend Advocacy Group lies in the diversity of its members. Each individual brings a unique perspective shaped by personal experiences, cultural backgrounds, and challenges faced along their journeys. This rich tapestry of insights enables the group to approach advocacy from a holistic standpoint, ensuring that they can effectively cater to the varied needs of their community.

Key Objectives

The group's primary objectives include:

• Creating Safe Spaces: Establishing environments where individuals feel secure and respected, free to express their authentic selves.

• Providing Resources: Offering access to information, support services, and educational materials tailored to the needs of TGNC individuals.

• Fostering Community Connections: Building a strong network of support through events, workshops, and networking opportunities.

• Advocating for Rights: Championing the rights and dignity of the community by engaging in policy reform and public awareness campaigns.

 

 Addressing Unique Needs

TGNC individuals often face challenges that are not experienced by the wider population. The Transcend Advocacy Group is committed to addressing these specific needs through:

• Youth Support Programs: Creating initiatives specifically tailored to young TGNC individuals while providing direct support services including mentorship programs, peer support groups, and crisis intervention services.
   

• Research and Data Collection: Conducting research to better understand the needs and challenges faced by TGNC individuals and inform advocacy efforts.
   

• Empowerment: Empowering TGNC youth and young adults to become leaders and advocates for their own rights.

 

• Community Engagement: Building strong, supportive networks within the community to foster understanding and acceptance.

 

• Advocacy and Policy: Working tirelessly to influence policies and legislation that protect and enhance the rights of TGNC individuals.

 

• Education and Awareness: Conducting workshops, seminars, and campaigns to educate the broader public about gender diversity and inclusivity.

 

• Gender Affirming Closet: Offers gender affirming clothing and accessories at no cost to those in need.
